Align Utility updated 2/20/98 What is The Align Utility?
The Align utility allows a technician to align an encoder on the RefleX system without the use of an oscillosope. In addition, the Align utility helps a technician verify an encoder's
signal after an AutoTune. How Does It Work? The Align Utility continually monitors all 3 encoders and allows the service technician to see the amplitude of
each encoder signal graphically. When the Align Utility is set to "Before AutoTune", all EEPOTs are temporarily set to the middle of their range. This configuration is used for aligning encoders. All
bar graphs must be above dotted line. When the Align Utility is set to "After AutoTune", all EEPOTs receive their AutoTuned values. This configuration is used for checking the AutoTune (i.e. all signal
levels should within dotted tolerance lines). How Do I Get There?
- Press the service utilities button.
- Enter in password. This is the last 5 digits of the machine serial number reversed. Press the Done key
- Press the Align button.
Aligning:
- Select an axis to align.
- Lock the two axes that are not being aligned at this time.
- Begin moving the axis to be aligned. The axis must be kept moving at all times for the graph to be shown.
- Adjust each encoder until the maximum signal level is achieved.
- Repeat process for remaining two axes.
- Press the done button.
Helpful Hints:
- Remember, when configured to "Before AutoTune", the EEPOTs are set to mid span. If, after aligning all 3 axes, the signals to do not look similar, it is not necessarily a problem. All bar graphs must,
however, be above the dotted line. Later, AutoTune will adjust the EEPOTs to equalize the signals.
- After a machine has been AutoTuned and the Align utility is configured for "After AutoTune" all signal levels should look equivalent in amplitude.
- If no signal is being displayed while the appropriate axes is in motion, then it means that the encoder signal is not getting to the controller.
